Crissy Phipps is the founder of Lead Renewed.

 

I spent nearly 30 years in HR, more than two decades of them in employee relations.

 

I have sat across from people on the worst days of their working lives. I have handled the tough termination of a long-term employee. I have guided and consoled a leader through the death of an employee. And I have managed a steady stream of escalated, sometimes traumatic, cases while working to protect the organization from risk and protect employees from mistreatment.

This is the front line of employee relations. It is meaningful, necessary work, and it is heavy.

I know what it's like to carry the weight of the case without the tools or support to set it down. Over time, the volume and intensity of the work took its toll, and I experienced burnout firsthand.

That experience led to a turning point. I made the decision to leave corporate life and learn how to manage my own nervous system through HeartMath®'s science-based techniques.

Today, I combine my HeartMath® certification with two decades as an ER leader in the trenches. I work with the people who continue in a profession I still love and respect.
